Setting: The school hall, with rows of seats for the class play.
[Maya enters the hall carrying two paper tickets. Ben is putting away his coat. Maya looks at the front row, then notices Noor standing by the crowded seats.]
MAYA: Ben, I’ve got our two tickets. I promised you the front-row seat beside me for the class play.
[Noor looks across the rows.]
NOOR: I can stand at the back. I don’t know anyone here.
[Maya points to the empty seat beside her, then pauses.]
MAYA: Noor, wait here a moment, please. I need to speak to Ben.
[Maya turns to Ben.]
MAYA: Noor joined our class this morning. She doesn’t know anyone, and she was going to stand at the back.
BEN: But I was looking forward to sitting in the front row.
[Ben frowns. Maya glances toward Noor, then back at Ben.]
MAYA: I know. On my first day, I ate lunch alone.
[Ben looks across the hall. Two seats together are empty near the middle. He points to them.]
BEN: We could sit there, together. Noor could have the front-row seat next to Leo.
[Maya looks toward Leo, who is near the front row.]
MAYA: That could work. I’ll introduce them.
[Maya walks with Noor to Leo.]
MAYA: Leo, this is Noor. She joined our class today.
LEO: Hello, Noor.
NOOR: Hello.
[The lights dim. Ben and Maya sit together in the two empty seats near the middle. Noor sits in the front row beside Leo.]
