Agatha Christie

Agatha Christie was a famous author. She was born on September 15, 1890. Her birthplace was Torquay, Devon, England. Agatha grew up in a wealthy family and was taught at home.

She wrote many books. Most of them were mysteries. Her famous detectives were Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. Agatha also loved plays. Her play "The Mousetrap" has run in London since 1952.

Agatha's stories sold over two billion copies! Her book "And Then There Were None" is one of the best-selling books of all time. People call her the "Queen of Crime."

Agatha was a nurse in World War I. There she learned about poisons, which she used in her stories. She was married twice and loved traveling to archaeological digs with her second husband.

She won many awards, like Dame of the British Empire in 1971. Agatha's books are still popular, and many became TV shows and movies. She passed away on January 12, 1976, but her stories continue to entertain people all over the world.
