Hello everyone,
Today, we are going to take a special kind of walk right here in our classroom. It's called a "Sensory Mindfulness Walk." We will use all five of our senses to fully experience everything around us. Are you ready? Let's begin.
Sight:
First, let's start with our eyes. Begin by walking very slowly around the room. Look carefully at everything you see. Notice the colors, the shapes, and all the little details. Maybe you'll see something you've never noticed before. Take your time and really look.
Sound:
As you continue walking, now let's shift our attention to sounds. What do you hear? Maybe it's the sound of your own footsteps, the rustling of paper, or someone talking in the distance. Try to notice all the different sounds without judging them, just observe.
Touch:
Next, let's explore touch. Continue to walk slowly and gently touch different surfaces you pass by. Feel the texture. Is it smooth, rough, warm or cool? What other sensations do you notice through your fingers or even your feet as they touch the ground?
Smell:
Now, let's bring our attention to the sense of smell. Pause for a moment and take a deep breath in through your nose. What can you smell? Maybe it's the scent of the classroom, cleaning supplies, or even the smell of your own clothing. Take another deep breath and see if you can notice any new smells.
Taste:
Lastly, we will focus on taste. If you have a small piece of fruit or a mint, take it out now. Place it in your mouth and eat it very slowly. Notice the taste and the texture. How does it feel as you chew? If you don't have something to eat, simply focus on the taste in your mouth right now.
Great job, everyone! You have just completed a Sensory Mindfulness Walk. Hopefully, you feel more aware and present in this moment. Remember, you can use your senses to practice mindfulness anytime, anywhere.
Thank you for joining me on this journey!
