Summary writing

Steps

  1. Read the text.
  2. Read the text again and mark the most important facts and information (ask yourself questions such as what? where? when? why? who?)
  3. Structure the text into its different themes or arguments
  4. If you find it helpful, you can take notes. This helps ensure you don't quote directly from the text.

The writing process

  1. Write the introduction (title, author, publishing date and place, text type, thesis)
  2. Write the body (focus on answering the questions you asked yourself earlier)
  3. Write the conclusion (this can contain the answer to your thesis, or a main aspect)
