Analysis of Alex Warren's Song 'Eternity'

Emotional State of the Speaker

The feeling of an eternity since having someone close suggests a profound sense of longing and absence in the speaker's emotional state. The lyrics convey a deep yearning for connection, indicating that the speaker feels isolated and perhaps incomplete without the presence of this significant other. This prolonged sense of time highlights the emotional weight of their separation, emphasizing feelings of loneliness and perhaps a struggle to adapt to life without the person they miss.

Values and Priorities of the Speaker

The mention of 'sacrifice' to be with someone in paradise reveals that the speaker highly values the idea of being reunited with their loved one, even if it means giving up something significant. This indicates that the speaker prioritizes emotional fulfillment and connection over other aspects of life. The willingness to sacrifice underscores the importance the speaker places on love and companionship, suggesting that these are paramount to their sense of happiness and well-being.

Artistic Descriptions and Their Effect

The artist's use of descriptions such as 'an endless night' and 'a starless sky' serves to create a vivid image of desolation and emptiness. These elements contribute to a haunting and melancholic atmosphere, which effectively conveys the depth of the speaker's feelings of loss and longing. For the listener, these descriptions evoke a sense of empathy and emotional resonance, allowing them to connect with the speaker's experience of solitude and yearning. The imagery intensifies the emotional impact of the song, drawing the listener into the speaker's world of perpetual night and absence.
