Zielsetzung: Ziel ist das Kennenlernen des moralisch gespaltenen Mensch-Tier-Verhältnisses sowie die kritische und sachliche Analyse des Speziesismus (Kategorisierung von Lebewesen). Die Lernenden sollen befähigt werden, gesellschaftliche Gewohnheiten zu hinterfragen, ethische Dilemmata der Tiernutzung zu bewerten und eine eigene Haltung zum Eigenwert von Tieren zu entwickeln.
Inhalte und Methoden: Das Arbeitsblatt dekonstruiert die Einteilung von Tieren in Haus-, Nutz- und Versuchstiere. Methodisch erfolgt dies über Social-Media-Impulse (Tweets), einen Kriterienvergleich in einer Matrix sowie die Analyse von Sachtexten zu biologischen Bedürfnissen. Ein Kulturvergleich und die Untersuchung des Tierschutzgesetzes mittels Mindmaps zu „vernünftigen Gründen“ für Tierleid dienen der Problematisierung. Die Reflexion über den Zusammenhang von Nutzen und emotionalem Wert schließt die Einheit ab.
